The Rev. Deirdre Whitfield

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church is a mission church in the Episcopal Diocese of PA. Although the parish has seen periods of strong growth and vibrancy, there have also been some unsettling stretches. Yet, with the determination of its members, clergy leadership, family, friends and the help of the Holy Spirit, it continues to survive. Most importantly it continues to serve its community.

I have been incredibly fortunate in my life to never have to experience many of the difficulties I see in this world. So much of those difficulties happen right here in this little City of Chester. But it is not without hope! There are many organizations and groups in and around Chester making a difference and we at Saint Mary's aim to make a difference too! With that desire in my heart, I came to St Mary's.  The world is made up of relationships and if we foster them positively, they’ll pay huge dividends - in love, care, and a better world.

A better World:  Serving the Community of Chester, PA since 1900.

Mission & Vision

We have a simple, but robust vision: to be a positive spiritual force in the City of Chester. Our mission is just as robust: to minister to the world God so loved, to bring disciples to Christ to partner with God in bringing to completion God's work of peace.

Simply stated,

We want to make a difference!
